Parent Calendar



On May 02, 2016 our CAASPP testing will begin for 3rd-5th grade. This can be a stressful time for children and it is important that we all are working together to raise their confidence and help them to prepare so that their anxiety decreases. If you would like more information about the CAASPP training click on the following link http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/. Below are some tips for you to support your child with testing:


Before the test:

  • Attend testing informational meetings

  • Explore the CAASPP website and problem types

  • Assist your child in typing practice

  • Speak to your child’s teacher about things you can do to help your child study for the test.

  • Talk to your child about the test. Let them share what they are feeling and encourage them to just do there best.

The day of the Test:

  • Make sure your child gets a good night sleep. Have students go to sleep by 8:00pm.

  • Make sure to provide a healthy/light breakfast on testing days.

  • Make sure to get your child up early enough to not feel rushed in the morning and get to school on time.

  • Make it clear that all you expect is for them to do their personal best.

  • Lastly, stay positive and calm, if your child experiences anxiety or nervousness give them a couple of strategies they can use to help them calm down.


After the Test:

  • Assessments vary from test to test, but the test scores should include information that helps you interpret the results. Talk with your child's teacher if you have any questions about the test results. You may also suggest that the school offer a testing information session to parents (Narang, 2008).

  • Review the scores with your child and help them to create personal goals for the following academic year.
